Kitui South member of parliament Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai has lauded County Assemblies from the lower eastern region for passing the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill overwhelmingly.
In a press conference accompanied by other MPs, Kaki said BBI is a document that when fully implemented will bring more resources to our counties and at the ward level.
“I would like to take this time to thank MCAs from our region for passing this document, (BBI). We know very well that this is a document that is going to bring resources to our counties 35%, we are going to have resources at the ward level and we are looking forward to it.” Kaki said.
The Second time Mp also thanked Ukambani MCAs for taking their time to undertake public participation to explain the document to their people in a language they understand better!
Kaki further thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta and Rt Hon. Raila Odinga for initiating the BBI process.
“… and finally, I would like to take this moment to that thank our President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta and to thank Rt Hon Raila Amollo Odinga for starting the process” She added.
On Tuesday, a record 21 County Assemblies voted to endorse the BBI Bill surpassing the 24 thresholds required for the Bill to proceed to the next stage.
So far BBI has been approved in 42 out of 44 assemblies that have debated the document.
